Making the Most of an Agile Team

How do I get the best out of a development company?

Course details

You've hired an Agile development company with a strong process and a track record of success. They're telling you that they need a 'Product Owner' from your team to lead them. After this workshop you will be ready to work with them effectively to deliver low-cost software early and often, and to make sure that the end product exactly meets the needs of the stakeholders.

In this two-hour workshop, you'll learn how the Agile process works, where the Product Owner fits in to the organisational chart, and how to communicate in both directions - to the senior stakeholders, and to the development team. By writing User Stories, you'll practice breaking work down into manageable bites so that the team can ship finished software every week. We'll work through some difficult prioritisation problems to show you the best way to plan releases, and practice estimation using Story Points so that you'll be able to calculate what will be shipped and when.

This workshop prepares you to work with an existing agile team, such as a development agency. To introduce Agile to a new team, you will also want to attend Improving Your Team From Within.

From the Audience

New Bamboo gave us a thorough introduction to the concept of agile product development with their Product Owner training session, which focuses on the role the main stakeholders play in a development project. Having worked with them for a number of months now, it is obvious that they practice what they preach to great effect, and our whole experience with New Bamboo has served as a very persuasive argument for agile.
